Abrasive Material Types & Applications

1. Green Silicon Carbide (GC)

• Abrasive Mineral: Green Silicon Carbide
• Characteristics: Very high hardness, sharp cutting edges, rapid self-sharpening, high thermal conductivity; brittle under heavy impact.
• Primary Applications: Cemented carbide cutting tools, glass, ceramics, stone, non-ferrous metals, and semiconductor materials (not recommended for soft or tough carbon steel).

2. White Aluminum Oxide (WA)

• Abrasive Mineral: White Fused Alumina
• Characteristics: High hardness, cool-cutting action with minimal heat buildup, sharp fracture properties preventing workpiece burn.
• Primary Applications: High-speed steel (HSS), hardened alloy steel, chilled steel, high-carbon steel; precision sharpening of drills, milling cutters, taps, and thread tools.

3. Chrome Corundum (PA)

• Abrasive Mineral: Pink Chrome Corundum
• Characteristics: Higher toughness than WA, sharp cutting retention, burn-free grinding performance, excellent edge retention.
• Primary Applications: Re-sharpening HSS cutting tools (milling cutters, drills), precision grinding of stainless steel, quenched steels, measuring instruments, and precision machine parts.
